Nursing Classics #301 is a beautiful slip pattern that can be adapted for use during any time of a woman's life! View 1 is a basic, non-nursing slip. View 2 features an extended armhole to allow for discreet easy nursing without a lot of fuss. View 3 features a pretty side access nursing opening. Views 4 and 5 are cut for maternity wear and feature a side access nursing opening. View 5 features a center front pleat to allow a little extra ease over a pregnant tummy. View 6 is a short little cover-up that is perfect for wearing on top of any of the slip patterns for a little extra coverage. Perfect for wearing in the hospital or at home, View 6 can easily turn any of the slip patterns into an elegant pegnoir set. Any of the views can be adapted for use as a slipdress or a nightgown depending on the fabric you select.

The above fitting measurements vary depending on the type of fabric you are using and the amount of wearing ease desired in your slip, dress or jumper. Allow less ease for a slip than for a dress. If using knit fabrics you may get by with almost no ease. The bed jacket is made to be very loose and it allows for greater ease. Select the size that coordinates with the slip or dress size.

The above slip yardage figures are for the shortest length. For mid-length add 1/4 yard for 45" or 60" wide fabrics or 1/8 yard for 108" wide fabrics. For the longest length add 1/3 yard for 108" wide fabric or 2/3 yard for 45" or 60" wide fabric. For 60" wide fabrics, you can save some fabric by having a seam up the center back of slip.

Yardage and layouts are for fabrics without nap. Additional fabric may be needed to match striped plaids or one-way designs. Nylon tricot is usually found in 108" wide widths. Allow extra for shrinkage or for longer lengths as described above.

Suggested fabrics: All Views: Nylon Tricot, Batiste, Washable Satins, Washable Silks, Cotton Blends, Polyester Silkies, Rayons, Sheers.
Notions:
All of these notions are optional and depend on the finishing methods and sewing techniques you have selected.
Views 1-5: Purchased applique to accent the slip at center front.
Views 1, 3, 4 or 5:  3 yds elastic lace or trim for neck edge and armholes. (Optional)
Views 1-3:   2 1/4 yds. lace to trim lower edge of slip.
Views 4 & 5: 3 yards lace to trim lower edge of slip
View 6:
  Optional:  3 1/2 yds lace to trim lower edge of jacket and sleeve. 1 yard ribbon for center front tie. Decorative flowers or pearls for bed jacket.  Hook and eye (optional)
